TuneIn to launch webcast of best bits from The Adam Carolla Show podcast

Streaming aggregator and tuning service TuneIn is launching a curated "24/7" channel featuring the week's best content from The Adam Carolla Show. The Backbone Internet radio service will deliver this stream.

TuneIn also announced it will stream other shows from Carolla Digital, including ACE On The House, For Crying Out Loud, CarCast, This Week With Larry Miller, Penn's Sunday School with Penn Jillette, The Adam and Drew Show and The Dr. Drew Podcast.

Carolla launched his popular podcast after his broadcast home changed formats (see more in RAIN here).

Stitcher reviews news of 2012 with Year in Sound

Podcast aggregator Stitcher analyzed compiled listening stats, social media metrics, and transcription data of the news clips it carried in the past year to identify the most popular and viral content of 2012. It's now assembled the information as Stitcher's Year in Sound 2012.

Listeners can listen and recall the year's biggest news events month-by-month online and via the company's mobile apps.

Stitcher announces finalists in podcast awards

Stitcher, which aggregates podcasts and non-music radio and audio content, has announced the finalists for its first annual Stitcher Awards (first covered in RAIN here).

News organizations dominate the nominations. NPR received the most nods, with other top finalists including CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, KCRW, BBC Radio and The Wall Street Journal.

Stitcher picked six finalists for each of 20 different categories, based on the more than 55-thousand listener votes. Through November 5th, listeners can vote for their favorites from among the finalists. Stitcher will name the winners in December at the first annual Stitcher Awards ceremony, to be held in San Francisco.

Stitcher announces awards to recognize best in podcast and on-demand content

Podcast aggregation service Stitcher announced this week the first annual Stitcher Awards, to recognize "the best and brightest of on demand radio and podcasts for 2012."

The company is asking listeners to nominate their favorite content in 20 separate categories. Nominations are open until October 19, after which finalists will be announced. Stitcher will then host a 2012 Stitcher Awards show in San Francisco for the winners.

Stitcher update adds offline mode to iOS app

Stitcher Radio has added an "offline mode" to its iPhone and iPad mobile apps.

Stitcher is the on-demand internet radio service focused on news and talk radio and podcasts.

The update allows a listener to download over 10,000 radio shows and listen when there's no available data connection. There's apparently also a new comments system and improvements to Facebook sharing, searching, and AirPlay compatibility.

Heidi & Frank, vets of L.A. airwaves and the Internet, to replace Mark & Brian on KLOS

News is just breaking at press time the KLOS/Los Angeles will replace the long-running Mark & Brian show with L.A. veterans Heidi & Frank, beginning September 4th.

Heidi Hamilton and Frank Kramer have worked in the market on Clear Channel KYSR and CBS Radio KLSX. After losing their show at Cumulus KABC in September 2010, the two launched “The Heidi and Frank Show” online the following month, reported Paid Content by January 2011. By that time they built a subscriber base of “well over 6,000” customers paying $5/month or $50/year for on-demand audio and video content, plus a 2-hour live show weekday mornings (see our coverage here), mostly through tenacious productivity and social media efforts.
