You read about this in the radio trades last week, but here's your chance to read what the Chicago newspapers had to say about it:

Robert Feder, Chicago Sun-Times: "The most successful Chicago radio operator of all time is blasting off into cyberspace. Jim deCastro, Chicago-based radio group president and chief executive officer of AMFM Inc., today will be named chairman and chief executive officer of AMFMi, the company's Internet strategy division. The move smartly positions deCastro for the future as AMFM prepares for its merger with Clear Channel Communications..." Click here for radio/TV columnist Robert Feder's entire column.

Jim Kirk, Chicago Tribune: "Jimmy de Castro, chief executive of AMFM Inc.'s radio group, is about to enter cyber-land. AMFM on Thursday is expected to name de Castro, 44, to head its AMFMi Internet unit, launched in May to develop a network of local Web sites paired with radio stations. De Castro is expected to remain head of AMFM's radio group..." Click here for business columnist Jim Kirk's full story.

From the current issue of The Industry Standard: "Visitors to VH1.com this week will get their very own roadie...one of many new features being
introduced across the MTVi-branded sites, all of which relaunched this week. VH1.com, MTV.com and the recently acquired SonicNet have all gotten design overhauls, with new features and products. Radio SonicNet is now up and running – the long-awaited retooling of Imagine Radio, which MTV Networks acquired last winter..."

Radio Business Report: "CEO Jeff Smulyan may have taken [the name of the site] a bit too literally... BuyItNow he did — $5M worth of the web site’s stock. The Emmis investment is viewed as a step toward creation of a radio industry Internet portal — an effort that Emmis has been spearheading with other groups..." Click here to go to the RBR home page.

From CNET News (6/28/99): "In what shapes up to be a barter deal, Snap.com will give retail space to BuyItNow on its Web site in exchange for a 3.6-percent stake in the online retailer, a swap valued at $10 million. Meanwhile, Xoom.com will receive a 1.8-percent stake in BuyItNow for $5 million worth of marketing and promotions...BuyItNow will still be owned largely by television company e4L, which will hold a 48.7-percent stake...while media and outdoor advertising company Clear Channel Communications owns 4.5 percent..." Radio Business Report: "Bonneville, Greater Media, Citadel, Susquehanna and Jefferson Pilot have joined the Emmis-inspired Local Media Internet Venture (LMIV—RBR 7/5, p.3), signing on the dotted line earlier this month. Through the six companies’ radio and TV properties, 100M can be reached daily and driven to the site. The company will be run as a separate venture and is still open to groups of all sizes..."
